Know someone who’d love Gusto? Refer them, and they’ll earn money, too.
Referrers get paid based on the number of people referred in the past ($300, $400, $500, $700, or $1000).
Referees get $100.
Gusto sometimes runs limited-time bonus offers on top of the standard reward—sign in to your account to see any offer available to you.
Your referral link lives in your Gusto account. You can copy and share it from a web browser or the Gusto mobile app.
Web browser
To find and share your referral link in a web browser:
In the top menu, go to the Referrals section (
). If you do not see it, look for Refer & earn in the left menu.Share your referral link on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or email your friends to try Gusto. You can also copy your unique link to share with friends to sign up.
Mobile app
To find and share your referral link in the Gusto mobile app:
Open the Gusto mobile app and sign in.
In the bottom-right corner, tap More.
Select Refer.
Tap the copy icon next to the link.
Select Share link to send the link directly to a friend.
Your friend has to sign up through your referral link for the referral to count—it works the same whether you shared the link from a web browser or the app.
Your referee will get an email from Gusto with the subject of “{Referrer's name} thinks you’ll love Gusto payroll and benefits”. Your referee must:

Your friend also needs to run their first payroll or contractor payment before the referral earns a reward—see Check who is eligible below.
Once your friend pays their first payroll invoice, your reward is on its way. It is sent by Tremendous, our rewards partner, not by Gusto directly.
After your referee signs up and pays their first payroll invoice, you'll get an email with your gift card from Gusto via Tremendous ([email protected]). This may take up to 30 days from the time the invoice was paid.
With one successful referral, your reward is a virtual Visa card. With 2 or more successful referrals, you can choose a bank transfer (ACH) instead of the virtual Visa card when you claim your reward.
Use your gift card within six months. Gift cards expire after six months.
These rules decide whether a referral earns a reward.
To be eligible for this promotion, your friend needs to sign up for Gusto through your personal referral link. The referred account must be on either:
The Simple, Plus, or Premium Plan, and have processed an employee payroll
A legacy contractor–only plan (no longer offered), and have processed a contractor payment
This promotion does not apply to accounts that are closed before the referral bonus is issued.
Gusto reserves the right to declare a referral ineligible for the promotion if Gusto believes that you are abusing the referral program.
Gusto cannot switch from one type of reward to another.
If you get $600 or more in rewards in a calendar year, Tremendous (the sender) is required to report this amount to the IRS. Once you earn $600, you'll need to complete an electronic W-9 form with information that will be used on a 1099-NEC.
