This article is for admins who want to transfer their company’s benefits to Gusto.
As your insurance broker, we help you build a benefits package, run open enrollment every year, automate your payroll deductions, and manage your team’s benefit enrollments and terminations.
When you transfer your broker of record to Gusto, we let your insurance carriers know that we’ll manage your company’s benefits going forward. Your employees can keep using their current benefits. Nothing changes for them during the transfer. Once the transfer is complete, your team’s pre-tax deductions automatically integrate with payroll. You and your employees can then view and manage benefits directly in Gusto.
Your company can transfer benefits to Gusto if your insurance plan’s renewal date is at least three months away. Once your renewal date passes, you can transfer your benefits right away.
Follow these two steps to transfer your broker of record to Gusto.
To start processing your transfer, we’ll need the following info about your plans. You can usually find this on your insurance card or your carriers’ billing invoices.

Any admin with benefits permissions can start the transfer in Gusto.
When it’s time to sign forms, make sure your company’s benefits signatory signs them. The signatory is the person your insurance carriers have on file to sign policy documents. This is usually the person who signed the original insurance application.
