Change your email or password

If you have access to your Gusto account and want to change the email or password that you sign in with, follow the steps below from your employee or contractor profile.

Change your employee or contractor email address or password

If you're looking to update an admin's details, check out this article instead. Otherwise, follow the steps below: 

  1. Sign in to your employee Gusto account on a desktop computer.
  2. Go the Security center section of your account.
    • If you don't have a Security center section of your account, you can also edit this info by:
      • Clicking your profile name in the top-right of your account, then;
      • Selecting Settings, then;
      • Editing the relevant information. 
  3. Based on the change you want to make, click Change email or Change password on the related card.
  4. Enter your new email or password—you can also enter a recovery email to be used in case you lose access to your primary email. 
    • If you get the error message “Email already in use”: Contact us from the Help or Priority support section of your account—we can help merge your accounts.
    • Can't get into your account? Follow these steps to troubleshoot signing in—you won't be able to change account information (like email or password) until you've successfully signed in again. 
  5. Click Save.

A notification about this update will be sent to your former email address.
