This article is for admins who use Clover as their point-of-sale system.
Clover is a point-of-sale and payment processor that lets you accept credit cards, EMV (Europay, Mastercard, and Visa) chip, and contactless payments.
We integrate with Clover to sync employee and contractor names (first and last) and emails between both systems. When you update employee or contractor information in either system, it automatically syncs with the other system.
Note: Customers who join Gusto from Clover will receive Gusto payroll free for their first 3 months.
If you’re new to Gusto, you can join directly from Clover. Once you sign up from Clover, learn how to set up your new Gusto account.
If you already have a Gusto account, follow the steps below to connect.
To connect Clover to Gusto:
In a new tab in your browser, sign in to Gusto.
In Gusto, go to the App directory.
Search for and select Clover.
Click Connect.
This will redirect you to the Clover App Marketplace, where you should already be signed in.
Click Connect.
Click the Clover Merchant you’d like to connect (if you have multiple).
Choose the Gusto company you’d like to connect the integration to.
When you add an employee or contractor to Clover, the user will be added to Gusto for onboarding. Once imported, you’ll find them listed under Needs Action in your People section, tagged as a Clover-imported user.
To import team members from Clover to Gusto:
On your Home page, click the sticky titled Import new team members.
Under the Import to Gusto as column, select an import type for each team member:
Add as a new employee
Add as a new contractor
Do not import
Merge with existing Gusto account
Click Sync Team Members.
Important: New employees and contractors you import to Gusto need a complete setup before they can get paid. You’ll automatically be taken to Needs Attention in your People section to finish the setup. If you want to finish later, you can exit and come back.
When you add an employee or contractor to Gusto, we automatically add them to Clover. Their email, first name, and last name create a Clover profile. No action is needed on your end.
If a team member is already in both systems, you can merge their accounts to keep information in sync. They’ll appear in the syncing process once you select the Gusto dashboard notification. There, you can choose to merge with an existing Gusto account.
To remove the Clover integration, sign in to Clover, go to the Gusto Integration page, and disconnect the integration.
