When you open a 401(k) plan with Gusto, you may be eligible for promotional discounts on your plan fees. This article covers how to check eligibility, where discounts appear during setup, how billing works during a promotional period, and who to contact with questions.
Gusto Retirement periodically offers discounts on its services. You can find details of current promotions on the Gusto Retirement website.
When you open a 401(k) plan with Gusto, you will complete a questionnaire to set up your plan and select your options. As part of this setup process, you will also review the fees and pricing.
If you are eligible for a discount, the promotion will be automatically applied on the Review pricing page. You will also see $0/month for any fees that are waived.¹
Billing begins the month following your plan's start date and is sent to you on the first of every month. You are charged retroactively, so your February invoice reflects the charges for January, your March invoice reflects the charges for February, and so on.
During the time the discounts are active, no funds will be pulled for the waived fees.
Here is an example of how a three-month employer discount would apply for billing:
Your plan's start date is Jan. 1.
On Feb. 1, Mar. 1, and Apr. 1, you will get your invoices, which will outline any fees that are waived. You will not be charged for applicable fees during this time.
Since the discount expires after three months, you will see the charges due on the May 1 invoice. The bank account on file will then be charged the applicable amount for employer fees around the 5th of that month.²
