Puzzle makes accounting easy and insightful for startups. Startups use Puzzle to unlock their financial data from formation through venture rounds.
Gusto integrates with Puzzle to sync employee and compensation data directly from Gusto payrolls to Puzzle's forecasting tools. Once you set up the integration, Puzzle matches your Gusto payroll data to your bank feed and auto-categorizes the payroll in Puzzle. Synced Gusto employee data informs business metrics such as average salary. The integration also enables real-time payroll insights like company burn composition.
Customers who join Gusto from Puzzle will receive Gusto payroll free for their first 3 months.

Step 4 of Puzzle onboarding includes the option to connect your payroll accounts. In the list of payroll integrations, find Gusto and click Connect.
If you do not see this option, you can connect to Gusto once you finish onboarding. Refer to the steps below under "Connect to Gusto from an existing Puzzle account."
Enter your Gusto admin credentials and click Sign In.
Click Authorize.
You'll be redirected to your Puzzle onboarding page. A green check mark next to "Gusto" indicates that your data has begun syncing.

The flow of information is one-way, from Gusto to Puzzle. All changes to payroll or benefits information must be made in Gusto. For this reason, any information pushed from Gusto to Puzzle will be read-only while you’re in your Puzzle account.
Auto-sync will only work for the payrolls moving forward from the time it is set up.
Puzzle will auto-sync on a daily basis in the evening.
The sync pulls data from the last two months from the connected Gusto accounts.
Make any updates to information in Gusto first.
If there are any updates to your Gusto data (such as a change to name, status, job/title, compensation, etc.), Puzzle will pull that in from the sync and notify you that the information also needs updating in Puzzle. This will help make sure information matches in both platforms.
Click Connected Accounts.
Click Gusto.
You should see:
Pay period date range
Last attempted sync date and time
Last successful sync date and time
If there’s an issue with the payroll sync, you’ll see a notification on your Puzzle dashboard and an error message under the Connected Accounts menu. Follow the instructions to resync your payroll.
The sync will not run if an admin's Gusto or Puzzle login credentials have changed.
If you're notified that the sync has been disconnected, here's how to reconnect:
Go to Integrations.
Scroll to "Payroll and Benefits" and click Add integration.
Find "Gusto" and choose Connect.
