Customers on the Premium plan have access to Gusto's real-time feedback feature—if you don't have access to it, admins can upgrade your plan at any time.
With real-time feedback, your team can request and provide feedback to each other at any point in time.
How it works—an overview - Admins, managers, and employees can request feedback from any employee at the company, at any time.
- Managers and employees respond to requests for feedback.
- Everyone can track feedback activity.
- Admins can view and track all outstanding feedback at the company.
- Managers can view and track feedback their direct reports give and receive.
- Employees can view feedback that has been shared with them.
- Use feedback when completing performance reviews.
View your feedback dashboard and learn more about how real-time feedback works -
Sign in to your admin profile.
- Head to the People section and select Performance.
- Click Go to real-time feedback.
- Click Learn more to get a snapshot of how real-time feedback works in Gusto—you can also Take a video walkthrough of the feature to see it all in action.
- View the feedback activity for the last 3 months—toggle to 1M, 6M, 1Y, or All to change the timeframe.
- Scroll below the dashboard to find all team members' received, given, and requested feedback.
Edit your custom feedback prompt settings -
Sign in to your admin profile.
- Head to the People section and select Performance.
- Click Go to real-time feedback.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Toggle to turn on, or turn off, custom feedback prompts.
- If you're turning on prompts: Set two prompts—one that managers will see when requesting feedback for a direct report, and another that employees will see when requesting feedback for themselves.
- The prompts are suggestions, not requirements. Managers and employees can still enter a different question when requesting feedback.
- If you're turning off prompts: Employees and managers will enter their own feedback questions.
- Click Save to update your settings.
Request feedback about an employee -
Sign in to your admin profile.
- Head to the People section and select Performance.
- Click Go to real-time feedback.
- Scroll below the dashboard to find all team members' received, given, and requested feedback.
- Under the “Actions” column, click the three-dot menu.
- Click Request feedback.
- Select who you'd like the feedback to come from—this is the person giving the feedback.
- Select who the feedback is about—this is the person receiving the feedback.
- Check the box to share the feedback with the employee—uncheck the box if you don't want the feedback visible to the employee receiving it.
- If unshared, responses will only be visible to their manager and admins.
- Either confirm the existing custom question prompt (if custom prompts were set up by an admin), or enter a new prompt about what you'd like feedback on.
- Click Request feedback.
View or delete feedback that employees have received or given -
Sign in to your admin profile.
- Head to the People section and select Performance.
- Click Go to real-time feedback.
- Scroll below the dashboard to find all team members' received, given, and requested feedback.
- View the feedback activity for the last 3 months—toggle to 1M, 6M, 1Y, or All to change the timeframe.
- Under the “Actions” column, click the three-dot menu.
- Click View feedback.
- Click the Received tab to see:
- Feedback they've received from other people and;
- Feedback they're waiting to receive.
- Click the Given tab to see:
- Feedback they've given to other people and;
- Requests for feedback they haven't responded to yet.
- To delete requested, or already provided feedback, click the trash icon next to the feedback entry.
Disable the feedback feature -
Sign in to your admin profile.
- Head to the People section and select Performance.
- Click Go to real-time feedback.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Click Disable to turn off this feature.
- When disabled, the real-time feedback feature is completely hidden from your team in their Performance dashboard, including past requests and feedback.
- While past requests and feedback are hidden from your team, admins will still be able to view them.
- If you choose to Enable this feature in the future, past requests and feedback will reappear for your team.
