OpenComp is an end-to-end compensation management platform that designs, evaluates, and activates compensation programs. Companies use OpenComp to benchmark internal compensation data against industry-leading market data via AI-driven auto-leveling, and simplify tasks like pay range creation, merit cycle management, DEI analysis, and more.
When you set up this integration, employee and contractor data will be automatically synced from Gusto to OpenComp, streamlining your HR processes.
Here’s what data you’ll see synced from Gusto to OpenComp:

Department
Compensation
Tenure
Work city
Termination status
Set up the integration
Customers who join Gusto from OpenComp will receive Gusto payroll free for their first 3 months.
You must be an admin in both Gusto and OpenComp to set up the integration.
In the top-right corner, click your user avatar.
Choose Admin console.
In the left menu, click HRIS Connection.
Find Gusto.
If you already have a Gusto account, click Connect.
If you’re new to Gusto: Click Create. Once you set up your company Gusto account, return to your OpenComp tab to finish connecting the integration.
Click Connect.
Enter your Gusto admin credentials and click Sign In.
Choose Authorize.
If you have multiple Gusto companies: Choose the company you want to connect to this OpenComp account. If you want to connect additional Gusto companies, they each need their own OpenComp account. Repeat these steps for each set of Gusto and OpenComp accounts you want to connect to each other.
Once you’re taken to the Benchmarking page, review each employee’s benchmark role, level, and location and make any edits as needed.
Click Continue. You’ll be taken to the Market analysis dashboard, where you can start working with OpenComp insights. Check out OpenComp’s resource center to learn more about using their features.
When you need to update someone’s compensation info, make the update in Gusto. Changes sync to OpenComp daily at 8pm PT.
By default, OpenComp includes dismissed employees included in benchmarking data. To change this:
In the top menu of your OpenComp account, click the settings icon.
On the Scenario Details tab, go to the “Hide Employees” line.
Select or deselect the employee types you want to be visible for benchmarking.
If your company does not yet have an OpenComp account, follow the steps below to create one from Gusto and connect the integration.
Go to the App directory.
Search for and select OpenComp.
Click Connect.
Enter your name, email, and create a password.
You may also choose Continue with Google to use your Google account.
Click Agree and join.
Enter the verification code OpenComp sent to your email and click Verify.
Indicate your role and what kinds of OpenComp features you’d like to use.
Click Continue.
Fill out your company info and click Continue.
Next to Gusto, click Connect.
Enter your Gusto admin credentials and click Sign In.
Choose Authorize.
Select the primary company you’re using OpenComp for and click Continue.
If you have more than one Gusto company, you’ll need a separate OpenComp account for each. Repeat these connection steps for each set of accounts you want to integrate.
Once your employee data syncs from Gusto, click Continue.
Review the employee data and edit the benchmark role, level, and location as needed.
Click Continue.
You’ll be taken to the Market analysis dashboard, where you can start working with OpenComp insights. Check out OpenComp’s resource center to learn more about using their features.

If the integration becomes disconnected, you’ll be notified in OpenComp. The lightning bolt on the dashboard will also be red to indicate the connection is inactive.
Here’s how to reconnect the integration:
If the integration is disconnected, a notification will be displayed. Click Reconnect my HRIS.
Next to Gusto, click Connect.
Enter your Gusto admin credentials and click Sign In.
Choose Authorize.
In the top-right corner, click your user avatar.
Choose Admin console.
In the left menu, click HRIS Connection.
Find Gusto.
Click Disconnect.
Employee and contractor data will no longer sync from Gusto to OpenComp. Previously synced info is not deleted; it will remain in OpenComp.
