Integrate with JobTread

Follow these steps to connect your company's Gusto and JobTread accounts.

If you're new to Gusto, you'll have the chance to create a new Gusto account from JobTread in step 5. Customers who join Gusto from JobTread will receive Gusto payroll free for their first 3 months.

1. Sign in to JobTread.
2. Choose the Settings tab in the left menu. 
3. Click Integrations.
4. Select the Gusto tile. 
5. If you already have a Gusto account, choose Connect to Existing Company.
   • If you’re new to Gusto: Click Create New Gusto Company. Complete your company onboarding in Gusto. Then return to Step 1 to resume integrating your accounts.
6. Click Authorize.
7. Scroll down to the Employees section. Now you’ll map your team members’ JobTread and Gusto accounts to each other so their data can sync:
   • Click Autofill: This will automatically match any employees who have the same name and email in both Gusto and JobTread. 
   • In the employee list, review the “Gusto Employee” column and make sure a Gusto account is selected for each person. 
   • Select dates in the “Sync Time Entries Since” column: Choose the earliest date for which time entries can sync from JobTread to Gusto. If this column is left blank, that person’s time entries will not sync from JobTread to Gusto. 
   • If you do not wish for time entries to sync for a certain person: Under “Sync Time Entries Since,” column, click the X next to the date or the employee’s name.

Now you can follow the steps below anytime to send your timesheet data from JobTread to Gusto and run payroll more easily. 

Before you sync entries, keep in mind how the sync works:

• When you run a sync in JobTread for a given pay period, all approved time entries for each mapped employee are sent from JobTread to Gusto. 
• Other payroll info that you only track in Gusto is not affected by the sync—it remains in Gusto unchanged (fixed rates, PTO, etc).
• Important: Rate names must be exactly the same in JobTread and Gusto. This is because the total hours for each matching rate are synced.
• Example: You must have a “Regular Hours” rate in JobTread so it can sync to the “Regular Hours” payroll item in Gusto.
• Employees must also be assigned the same pay rates in JobTread and Gusto in order for all their data to sync. 
• Example: If an employee records overtime hours in JobTread, they must have an overtime pay rate set up in Gusto. If needed, click to add a pay rate for hourly or salaried employees.
• Employee name changes: If someone changes their name in JobTread, their name is updated in Gusto.

Sync timesheet data

There are two ways you can send time entry data from JobTread to Gusto.

Option 1: Sync entries from the Time page 

1. In JobTread, go to the Time page.
   • The Time tab can be found in the left menu. 
2. Select a payroll period. 
3. Click Push Time Totals.

To view the synced data in Gusto, head to Gusto’s Run Payroll section and select the pay period.

Option 2: Sync entries from the Integrations page 

1. In JobTread, go to the Integrations page.
   • This can be found by going to the Settings tab and choosing Integrations. 
2. Find the pay period you want to sync and click Push Time Totals.

To view the synced data in Gusto, head to Gusto’s Run Payroll section and select the pay period.

Update a previously synced entry 

Synced time entries can be edited as long as you have not already run payroll in Gusto for that pay period. Click here if you need to adjust a payroll you’ve already run. 

If a time entry is edited in JobTread and you want to update it in Gusto before you’ve run payroll, simply resend the entry to Gusto by repeating the syncing steps above. The current data in JobTread will overwrite the previously synced time entry data in Gusto.

If you receive an error message when syncing a new hire to Gusto, it may be because an admin’s login credentials have changed or the integration has been disconnected. You can check the connection status on JobTread’s Integrations page.

Here’s how to reauthorize access to Gusto from JobTread’s Integrations page:

1. Sign in to JobTread.
2. Go to the Integrations page.
   • This can be found by going to the Settings tab and choosing Integrations.
3. Click Reconnect to Gusto.
4. Enter your Gusto admin credentials and click Sign In.
5. Choose Authorize.

Any previously synced data is maintained—it is not lost if the integration becomes disconnected.

If you no longer want to sync time entry data from JobTread to Gusto, follow these steps to disconnect the integration. Any previously synced time entry data is not deleted from Gusto.

1. Sign in to JobTread.
2. Go to the Integrations page.
   • This can be found by going to the Settings tab and choosing Integrations.
3. Click Delete Integration.
4. Click Ok. 

Time entry data that has already been synced to Gusto is not deleted. Moving forward, you will not be shown the option to sync time entry data to Gusto. You can reconnect the integration at any time.
