This article is for employers who need to display labor law posters in their workplace.
Staying compliant with labor laws means more than filing the right paperwork. You also need to keep the required notices in a location where your employees can access them. Federal and state laws require you to display certain labor law posters in the workplace. These requirements can change throughout the year.
We partner with PosterElite to offer a simple and reliable way to stay compliant with labor law poster requirements. When you add a poster subscription, you get physical and/or digital labor law posters based on your business needs. You also get automatic updates whenever laws change. This means you do not have to track changes yourself or worry about missing a deadline.
Each shipment includes the most current mandatory labor law notices. When laws change, you get a printable temporary notice, and we mail you a new poster.
You can set up a labor law poster subscription directly in Gusto.
To set up a labor law poster subscription:
Go to Taxes & Compliance.
Under Tasks, find the Display or distribute labor law posters task. Click Start now.
If you do not see this, scroll down to the Tools headline and click View poster subscriptions.
Click Purchase subscription. You can order posters for your physical workplaces, remote employees, or both.
We list each of your company’s physical work locations, as well as an option for remote employees. For each workplace, fill in the required information:

Click the checkbox to confirm you agree to the billing information and terms.

Posters typically ship in about 5-7 business days from the Southern California area. Shipping typically takes 1-5 business days, depending on your location in the US.
If you bought a remote poster option, remote employees can view their posters right away in the Documents section of their Gusto accounts. They’ll have a task on their Gusto home page to confirm they reviewed the posters. We show them only the posters for their work location.
Admins can also view remote posters in two places in their Gusto admin account:
In the Documents section
Or, in the Taxes & Compliance section. Scroll down to Tools, and in the Labor law posters tile, click View poster subscriptions. Scroll down to Your employee locations, then click the three-dot icon under the Actions column. Select View poster.

Here are tips for hanging up and taking care of your posters.
Where to hang labor law posters
You must hang the labor law poster in a location where employees frequently pass by and can easily read it. Common places include breakrooms, hallways, or near time clocks. The poster must be easily visible and accessible to everyone.
How to hang your poster
Your poster is made from strong, tear-resistant paper. You can hang it using tape, VELCRO®, or tacks.
If you use pushpins or tacks, be careful—they can tear the poster. To prevent this, use the two clear stickers that came with your poster. Stick one in each top corner, folding it over to cover both the front and back. Then put the pin through the sticker, not the poster.
If your poster has a QR code in the bottom-left corner, do not put a pin through it.
Display posters at multiple work locations
To follow federal and state laws, you should keep current labor law posters in all locations where your employees work. If you have separate buildings, different floors, or other worksites, you should put posters in each of those locations.
Go to the Edit an existing subscription section of the article to learn how to add more locations to your poster service.
Fix wrinkled posters
Do not worry if your poster arrives with wrinkles. The special paper will smooth out once it’s hanging.
Before hanging it, lay it flat on a table and rub it gently with your hand. Most wrinkles will fade after a few days.
Clean your poster
Your poster is printed on water-resistant synthetic paper. If it gets dirty, clean it with a damp cloth and a small amount of dish soap or an all-purpose cleaner.
Do not use bleach, degreasers, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the poster.

Here are answers to common questions about labor law poster delivery and management.
Q: What shipping carrier do you use?
A: Our partner, PosterElite, uses different shipping carriers based on the size of your order and where we’re sending it. These include USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL.
Q: Do you deliver to P.O. boxes?
A: Yes. We can ship your poster to a P.O. box.
Q: I did not receive my poster.
A: Click your tracking number to see where your package is. Contact us if you still need help after reviewing the information. To contact us, sign in to your Gusto account and click the help icon
in the top-right corner of the page.
Q: How does the poster update service work?
A: When you start your workplace poster subscription, you get an all-in-one State and Federal Labor Law Poster and instructions for any local or industry-specific notices.
Whenever a mandatory state or federal labor law posting changes, you get an email with a printable update to use until your new poster arrives. We send local city and county updates by email only.
Your replacement poster usually arrives within 30 days of a mandatory change. It can take longer if multiple changes are made at once, as we’ll try to combine them to avoid confusion.
When your replacement poster arrives, you can tear down your old poster and the temporary notice you posted, and start fresh with the new replacement labor law poster.
Q: When do I get my next poster?
A: With a workplace poster subscription, you get a new poster whenever there’s a mandatory state or federal labor law posting update. This can happen at any time during the year.
Q: What do I do with the “fill-in-the-blank” notices?
A: For physical posters, you should fill in the missing information on the poster before hanging it. This helps you follow posting rules.
Q: If I have a physical worksite, do I need to display a poster, or can I just use the remote poster solution?
If you have a physical worksite, you’re legally required to display current labor law postings in an open area where employees and job applicants can view them. This is typically in a breakroom or next to a time clock. Remote posters are only for remote workers, hybrid workers, mobile businesses, and fully remote businesses—not a replacement for physical worksites.
Q: I’m a 100% remote business. What do I need to do about labor law posters?
A: You still need to give your employees access to labor law notices. Our remote posters let your team view all required labor law postings online from anywhere in the US.
Q: Do all remote employees get the digital posters with a remote poster subscription?
A: Yes, all remote employees can access the remote posters.
Q: I’m a mobile business. Where do I hang my labor law posters?
A: If you’re a 100% mobile business and do not have a physical location to display a labor law poster, you must still provide the required labor law postings to your employees. Our remote posters are digital, and your team can view them from anywhere.
Q: Is my poster current?
A: To check if your All-in-One State & Federal Labor Law poster is up to date, scan the QR code located at the top left corner of the poster. It will tell you if the poster is up to date.
Q: There’s a new law coming out. Am I covered?
A: Check for recent and upcoming updates at posterupdates.com/changes.html.
Q: Do I need to provide Spanish labor law notices?
A: You must always post current notices in English. If you have Spanish-speaking employees who have trouble reading or understanding English, we recommend adding a Spanish poster subscription. Digital posters already include access to labor law postings in both English and Spanish.
Q: Why isn’t there a year at the top of the poster?
A: We do not print the year on the poster because labor laws can change at any time—not just once a year. That means a poster printed this year could still become outdated. Instead of using a printed year, our update service helps you stay compliant year-round by sending updates and replacement posters whenever the law changes.
Q: Will I get a new poster every January?
A: Not necessarily. You get a new poster anytime there’s a mandatory state or federal labor law posting update. This could be in January or another time during the year. Government agencies update labor law postings throughout the year.
Q: What if I have multiple locations?
A: You must post labor law notices at every work location. We recommend signing up each location for the update service to make compliance easy. That way, every site gets the correct posters and updates directly.
Q: How do I update the shipping address?
A: Cancel the subscription for the old work location, then purchase a new subscription for the correct work location.
Q: How do I know what recent updates happened in my state?
A: To view the most recent updates in your state, visit posterupdates.com.
Q: Won’t the government just tell me when there is an update?
No. Government agencies do not contact businesses about updates. New notices can come out anytime, and it’s up to you to stay compliant—or you can use a service like Gusto to stay on top of changes.
