The WOTC is a federal tax credit for businesses that hire people from certain disadvantaged groups.
We partner with Arvo to help you claim this tax credit. Arvo helps you screen applicants for WOTC eligibility, track your credit earnings, and stay compliant with program rules. When you connect Arvo to Gusto, your payroll and hiring information syncs to Arvo. This makes it easier to screen applicants, track eligibility, and get the most from potential tax credits—up to $9,600 per eligible employee.
Follow these steps to learn about WOTC and Arvo, then connect your Gusto and Arvo accounts:
To get started, schedule a free phone consultation with Arvo. Arvo will answer your WOTC questions and explain potential savings for your business.
If your business already has an Arvo account, contact Arvo’s support team to connect your account to Gusto.
If you decide to work with Arvo, Arvo will activate the integration with Gusto.
Once Arvo connects your account to Gusto, you can start screening applicants and earning credits.
After you connect Arvo to Gusto, you can survey job applicants for WOTC eligibility and claim tax credits.
Survey applicants for WOTC eligibility
Once Arvo connects the integration, they’ll show you how to survey new candidates for WOTC eligibility. You must survey new candidates on or before their date of hire.
How you send surveys depends on your Gusto plan:
Plus or Premium plan: Arvo will show you how to add the candidate survey directly to your Gusto onboarding process.
Simple plan: Arvo will show you how to email the survey to your new candidate yourself.
Track WOTC certification and eligibility
After a candidate completes their survey, Arvo determines if they’re WOTC eligible and submits the certifications to the relevant agencies.
Each time you process payroll, we automatically sync payroll information for certified employees to Arvo.
Your Arvo dashboard includes real-time insights on survey completion progress, eligible employees, and potential credit amounts.
Claim WOTC tax credits
Arvo uses payroll data from Gusto to send claim forms directly to your business. To claim credits, file the forms Arvo provides with your tax return.
If you no longer want Gusto to sync data to Arvo, contact Arvo to disconnect the integration.
