Add a third-party workers’ compensation plan to Gusto

This article is for admins who offer workers’ compensation through an insurance carrier other than NEXT Insurance and do not want to integrate it with Gusto.

If you offer workers’ compensation through an insurance carrier other than NEXT Insurance, you can add the plan to Gusto for your records. You’ll still need to manage the plan yourself—data does not sync between Gusto and your insurance carrier.

To add a non-NEXT workers’ compensation plan to Gusto:

  1. Sign in to Gusto.

  2. Go to Taxes & Compliance.

  3. Under Tasks, find the Get workers’ compensation coverage task. Click Start now.

  4. Click I already have coverage.

  5. Scroll below the NEXT Insurance details, and click I don’t want to integrate workers’ comp with payroll.

  6. Read the reminders about integrated policies vs. non-integrated policies, and click Continue.

  7. Fill out the:

    • Insurance carrier name

    • Renewal date—must be on or after the current date.

    • Monthly premium.

  8. Click Submit.

  9. Fill out any other requested information and click Submit.

If your plan details change, make sure to update them in Gusto.
