How can we help?

Gusto Benefits: Basic Information

Once you have benefits with Gusto, there are a few things to keep in mind surrounding benefits management moving forward.

  1. Pay your invoice directly to the carrier: Gusto does not make invoice payments on your behalf. Make sure to pay your health insurance invoices on time, directly to the carrier.
  2. Estimate cost: Find out how much benefits will cost for a new hire once their benefits start.
  3. Benefits Dashboard: You'll find detailed information about your team’s benefits: deduction amounts, employee & employer contributions, teammates enrolled, and more.
  4. Employee Management: When you hire & dismiss employees, we’ll take care of the benefits administration—enrollments, terminations, and payroll deductions.
  5. Employee Eligibility: Indicate employee eligibility status in their Gusto account so we can administer enrollments and apply any necessary deductions from payroll.
  6. ID cards: Sent directly to your employees from the health insurance carrier(s)—generally takes 5-7 business days after the benefits start date to arrive.
  7. Qualifying Life Events (QLE): Employees can change their benefits directly in their Gusto account when they're going through a QLE. They'll be required to submit proof through their Gusto account within 30 days of the date of the event.
  8. Renewing Benefits: We’ll reach out to you about 90 days prior to your renewal to get started. Be on the lookout for an email from our Renewal Advising team during that timeframe. This is when you can make changes to your current benefits package.
