Map your chart of accounts by departments

If you have an accounting integration, you can group your payroll information by department with your chart of accounts.

  1. Make sure you have the following already set up:
    • You have an accounting integration with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, FreshBooks, or Xero.
    • Team account names have been created in the accounting software.
    • Your employees/contractors are assigned to at least one department in Gusto.
  2. Click the Settings tab.
  3. Next to your accounting integration, click Edit.
  4. Click Edit Settings under Department Account Mappings on the right side of the page.
  5. Toggle to Enabled.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Scroll to the Department Account Mappings headline.
  8. Click Setup next to the Department(s) you've created.
  9. Map your chart of accounts.
  10. Make sure the names listed on the right side match with the account names seen in your accounting software account.
  11. Click Save.

These transactions will be exported by department to your accounting software account. Any employees or contractors not within the enabled department will roll up into the Default Account Mapping transactions.
