Point of service (POS)

Point of service (POS) is a type of health insurance plan that requires you to see a primary care physician in order to receive coverage, except during an emergency. You must also receive a referral from your primary care physician to seek treatment from a specialist. A POS plan provides minimal coverage for treatment out-of-network and encourages you to stay in-network.
