Cashout Disqualification

Once a company or employee becomes eligible for Cashout, they may become disqualified if a disqualifying event occurs. Once disqualified, the individual will be unenrolled from Cashout and will no longer be able to use the benefit. 

Some examples of disqualifying events include:

  • The employee or employer moves to a non-supported state
    • Cashout is currently available in all states except: AZ, MA, ME, WV, IL, NV, NH, NJ, ND, OR, PA, and VT
  • The employee or employer no longer has an active Gusto account
  • The employee has an unpaid Cashout balance for more than 16 days
  • The employee no longer receives direct deposit
  • The employee’s default payment method changes to check 
    • Keep in mind: Removing your bank account and adding a new method of payment will result in the default payment method being changed to check (if even momentarily)
  • Gusto* reserves the right to disqualify individual employees or employers at their discretion

Please note, this is not an exhaustive list of disqualification criteria, as Gusto may use additional factors to evaluate disqualification for Cashout.

For privacy and regulatory reasons, information about an individual’s Cashout disqualification can only be discussed with that individual and cannot be discussed with administrators, employers, or managers within a company.
