Change an employee's payment method to direct deposit

If your employee is set up for a check payment method, they can change this to direct deposit directly from their own Gusto account. You can also make this adjustment for them using the following steps:

  1. Click the People tab.
  2. Click your employee’s name.
  3. Navigate to the Job & Pay section.
  4. In the Payment Methods section click Add Method.
  5. Enter the routing number, account number, account type, and display name.
  6. Click Save.

Your employee will now be paid through direct deposit whenever you run payroll.

Note: You can add up to 5 bank accounts for direct deposit. Read the details in this article if you're trying to change the payment method for a termination payroll.
