Integrate with ApplicantPro

ApplicantPro is a recruiting software designed to help you streamline and optimize your hiring process. 

Gusto integrates with ApplicantPro to help streamline the administrative process by sending new hire data from ApplicantPro to Gusto.

Customers who join Gusto from ApplicantPro will receive Gusto free for their first 3 months.

Connect ApplicantPro and Gusto

  1. Sign in to ApplicantPro.

  2. Let ApplicantPro know you’re interested in the setting up the integration by:

    • Visiting the Marketplace and submitting interest in Gusto.

    • Contacting the support team at support@applicantpro.com and asking to set up the integration.

      • Admins can also use the chat feature to contact support.

  3. In ApplicantPro, go to the Applicants section from the top menu.

  4. Click an applicant name. 

  5. Click the Integrations tab.

    • Under “HR Fuse” a tab labeled Gusto will appear.

  6. In order to use Gusto, you must authorize the integration first. Click Give Authorization in the pop up screen to do so.

    • Once the Give Authorization button is clicked, the Gusto login page will open in a new browser tab.

  7. Enter your sign in credentials and click Sign In.

  8. Click Authorize.

    • If the sign in is successful, the Gusto page will automatically close and you will be redirected back to the integration page.

  9. Click Refresh Integration.

The integration is now fully set up and ready to be used.

 Sending new hire data from ApplicantPro to Gusto

  1. In ApplicantPro, go to the Applicants section from the top menu.

  2. Click an applicant name.

  3. Click the Integrations tab.

    • Under “HR Fuse” a tab labeled Gusto will appear.

  4. Click Start Process.

  5. Confirm the company from the dropdown, and the applicant's personal information.

    • If an employee has already been created in Gusto, and you attempt to add them again through this integration, either:

      • You will see an error message when entering their SSN that indicates the SSN is a duplicate, or; 

      • A duplicate employee will be created in Gusto if the SSNs do not match (or if SSN field is left blank).

  6. Click Next.

    • This will pass over the applicant information to Gusto.

  7. Confirm the applicant’s address, or add one.

  8. Click Next.

  9. Confirm the Job information, or add the details.

  10. Click Next.

  11. Confirm the Pay information, or add the details.

  12. Click Send to Gusto.

    • The status should read as “Successfully Sent”, and the Gusto tag on the applicant will have a checkmark next to it if 100% of the information has been sent over.

      • A Gusto tag without the checkmark will appear if the applicant has additional onboarding information to complete. 

        • You may need to refresh your page for this to update.

  13. Ensure that any remaining onboarding steps are completed in Gusto. To do so, go to the Hiring section of your Gusto account and complete any remaining onboarding steps.

Incomplete onboarding

If you weren’t able to complete filling out the onboarding information fully, you can return to the applicant’s Integration tab and elect to continue onboarding, or start the process over again if needed. 

  • Continuing Onboarding: use this option if onboarding is not complete and you want to continue where you left off. 

    • With this option, you’re not able to edit information on previous pages. 

  • Start Process/Restart Onboarding: use this option if onboarding is not complete and you want to start from scratch, or to see if previous data submitted was accurate.
