There are a few ways you can wire funds to Gusto—use the dropdowns below to learn more, or use CMD + F (or CTRL + F) to search for keywords throughout the article.
One-time wire transfers are different from setting up reverse wires in Gusto. If a one-time wire is an option, you'll be prompted about it at the beginning of the run payroll flow.
Once you submit a payroll, we'll provide wire instructions for you to use with your bank. If your wire doesn't meet the requirements below, we may not be able to receive it. If that happens, your team will not be paid on time.

If you haven’t set up reverse wire but you need to send a wire, you’ll need to initiate the wire transfer directly with your bank. We'll add $5 per wire to your monthly invoice, and additional bank fees may apply.
How to initiate the wire transfer directly with your bank
Gusto will prompt you at the beginning of a payroll run if a one-time wire is an option.
Setting up a reverse wire with your bank authorizes Gusto to withdraw funds from your account by wire transfer (ongoing, versus one-time).
If you’re running next-day or 2-day payroll, we may ask you to set up reverse wire to allow us to pay your team and your taxes on time.
Once you've turned on the reverse wire feature in Gusto, run payroll as normal—we'll let you know before each payroll submission if we're going to use a reverse wire to debit the bank account.
Before we can debit funds via reverse wire (drawdown), you have to set up a few things with your bank.

A reverse wire debit is a way for us to withdraw money from your bank account using a wire transfer.
Some banks do not support reverse wires, so this feature is not available for all customers.

Once you've activated the reverse wire feature in your account, go to the Pay section and run payroll as normal. If we're going to use a reverse wire to debit your bank account, we'll notify you before you submit the payroll.
Cost of a reverse wire
Your bank may charge a fee for the reverse wire transfer, the fee amount varies by bank but is usually $15-$30. Contact your bank for exact pricing. Gusto is not responsible for any fee your bank charges.
