Gusto gives each employee a worker code. It is a unique identifier that helps you tell the people on your team apart and keep more accurate records.
Worker codes were previously called Gusto employee IDs. In Gusto, the field is labeled Worker code. Reports still label the same code Gusto Employee ID.
A worker code is 6 characters long and usually made up of both letters and numbers, like "5G9934".
Sometimes, it might be all letters or all numbers.
You cannot change (customize) or turn off worker codes.
Click the People section.
Click on the employee's name.
Go to the Personal tab.
In the Personal information card, find Worker code.
Run an "Employee summary report" from the Reports section of your account to get a list of worker codes for everyone on your team. In the report, look for the column labeled Gusto Employee ID — that is the worker code.
If you use Smart Import, it'll recognize the worker code if it's included in the spreadsheet you upload.
