Track your goals (for employees, US contractors, or managers)

1. You or your manager add goals in Gusto.
   • As an employee or US contractor, you’re able to add individual goals.
   • Managers can assign goals to themselves or to their direct reports.
2. Track progress over time.
   • You and your manager can provide regular updates on your goals.
   • If you have direct reports, access your dashboard for real-time insights on your team’s progress.
3. Get update reminders.
   • Admins can turn on automatic monthly email reminders for you and your team to update goals, to make sure information is up-to-date.
4. View goals while completing performance reviews
   • When filling out reviewer or self-evaluations, you'll be able to view your goals.
   • If someone is writing a review about you, they can also see your goal information while writing their review.

1. Head to the Performance section.
2. To the right of the “Goals” title, click Go to dashboard.
3. From the “My goals” tab, click Create a goal.
4. Name the goal—it should be specific, measurable, and attainable.
5. Choose a start date and due date.
   • We’ll email the goal owner a reminder 3 days before the due date so you don’t forget the upcoming deadlines.
6. Add any additional details.
7. Select an owner—we’ll default you as the owner, but if you have direct reports, you can assign the goal to them here.
   • You can change the owner of a goal later if needed.
8. Click Save goal.

2. To the right of the “Goals” title, click Go to dashboard.
   • You’ll see a list of goals, which can be searched by title.
   • If you want to see a direct reports’ goals, toggle to the My team tab—select a timeframe to see goals from the past one, three, six, or twelve months. You can also click All to see all goals.
3. Click the title of a goal.
4. Scroll to the “Activity” headline to see a history of all changes made to the goal.

3. Click the title of a goal.
   • You’ll see a list of goals, which can be searched by title.
   • If you want to see a direct reports’ goals, toggle to the My team tab—select a timeframe to see goals from the past one, three, six, or twelve months. You can also click All to see all goals.
4. Add a note about what's changed.
5. Select whether the goals is:
   • On track
   • Progressing
   • Off track
6. Click Post update.
7. When a goal is completed, or if it will remain incomplete, click End goal.
   • To delete a goal that is no longer relevant, click Archive. Once you archive this goal, it will no longer appear in your dashboard.

4. Click Edit goal to change the title, description, start/due date for a goal, or the owner (if you have direct reports).

While filling out a review as a reviewer/manager or for a self-evaluation (as an employee), click View goals on the right-hand side of the page.

You’ll see a list of goals for the person being reviewed (yourself, if it's a self-evaluation). Select a timeframe to see goals from the past three, six, or twelve months.
