This article is for admins who want to hire employees outside the United States after May 1, 2026.
Note: If you're an existing Gusto customer who was using the integrated Employer of Record (EOR) experience before May 1, 2026, see Add and pay non-US employees with Employer of Record (EOR) powered by Remote instead. That article covers your current experience.
Gusto partners with Remote to help you hire and pay full-time employees outside the US. Starting May 1, 2026, new customers onboard directly with Remote — not through Gusto's integrated flow.
Remote is an Employer of Record (EOR) provider. As your EOR, Remote:
Acts as the legal employer for your non-US employees
Handles payroll, benefits, taxes, and local compliance in each country
Manages employment contracts and onboarding
Provides support for your employees and HR questions
You can still manage your US-based team in Gusto as usual — your US payroll, benefits, and HR are not affected by this change.
Visit remote.com/partners/gusto to create your Remote account.
Follow Remote's onboarding to set up your company profile and add your first non-US employee.
Remote will guide you through selecting a benefits package, generating an employment contract, and completing compliance requirements for the country you're hiring in.
For questions about the Remote onboarding process, payroll, benefits, or compliance for your non-US employees, contact Remote support directly.
For questions about your Gusto account and US payroll, contact Gusto support.
