If you've dismissed a contractor, you should make them inactive in Gusto. You can find all inactive contractor profiles in Gusto. Contractors who were paid through Gusto can not be fully removed from our system due to compliance purposes.
If you've rehired your contractor or need to process a payment for a dismissed contractor, rehire them and then pay them.
The contractor will be removed from the account as an active worker. Inactive contractors will still have unlimited access to their Gusto account to view their historical payments and any forms filed by Gusto.

If you have rehired your contractor or would like to process a payment for an inactive contractor, reactive them by using the following steps.
Your contractor will be added back to the list of active team members. You can now pay this contractor by clicking on the Payroll section and selecting Pay Contractors.
If you need to dismiss the contractor again, you can do so at anytime after you've processed a payment (or reported a historical payment).
