We've heard that it isn't always easy to tell which plan best fits your business, so we made the differences clearer, and put more of what matters into the plan you're already on. As your business grows, you need more customization and control, and that's what these changes give you. It's part of our ongoing commitment to making sure you get the right product and service support for the stage of your business.
Here’s a summary of what’s changing:
We’re adding new features to every Gusto plan. This article covers what's new, a couple of add-on changes worth knowing about, and where to go with questions. Features and timing are subject to change.
Existing customers get new features automatically. You don't need to do anything. They're added to your account starting October 1.
New packaging for new customers. Anyone signing up on or after October 1, 2026 will get the new packaging.
No price change. What you pay today is what you'll pay after October 1.
No plan name change. Simple, Plus, and Premium stay the same.
Plan
What's new
Simple and Solo
Expenses and reimbursements: Track and reimburse employee expenses directly through Gusto.
Time off: Manage time off with easy requests and approvals, real-time accrual tracking, and automatic payroll sync.
New Hire Check-ins: Schedule check-ins with new hires and keep a record of their progress.
Plus
Time Off Policy Customization: Set unlimited policy and accrual rates that increase with tenure, and offer unpaid leave alongside your paid policies so your time off program keeps pace as the team grows.

Premium
HR Resources: Helps you navigate HR questions and changing employment laws, embedded in Gusto and pulling data from payroll. Includes Employee Handbook, Ask an HR Expert, HR Document Generator and HR Law Updates.
Gusto Business Compliance: Gives you tools to help you expand into new states, including visibility into state requirements as they apply to your business. Includes State Tax Registration and Closure, Proactive Compliance Alerts, Registered Agent & Mail Monitoring, and Annual & Initial Reports.
Additional pay options: Pay your team on your schedule with no additional cost. Same-day and instant pay are included in this plan — subject to eligibility criteria.
Labor Cost Allocation: Allocate labor costs across employees, departments or custom categories by percentage
Premium Account Support: Serviced by a Premium Account Partner, formerly known as Dedicated Service Advisor, that knows your business end-to-end and helps resolve issues.
Starting August 31, 2026, new Simple and Plus accounts have different limits than before:
New Simple accounts: 1 custom earning type, and standard admin roles only (no custom roles).
New Plus accounts: unlimited custom earning types (no change), and 1 custom admin role.
Premium accounts: no change — unlimited custom earning types and multiple custom admin roles.
Learn more about custom earning types and managing roles and permissions.
If you're an existing Simple or Plus customer, these limits do not affect you right now, even if you already use more than the limits above. As always, we'll always make the best decisions for customers and small businesses. Existing customers will not be impacted by these new limits and will continue to benefit from their legacy plan capabilities and benefits.
Simple and Plus — No change. Broker integration is still available as a paid add-on for $6 per employee, per month.
Premium, for new customers starting Oct 1, 2026 — Broker integration is moving out of the included features and becoming a paid add-on for $6 per employee, per month.
If you're already a Premium customer as of Oct 1, 2026: Broker integration stays included in your plan at no extra cost. Nothing changes for you.
Premium — Included at no extra cost.
Simple and Plus — Available as a new paid add-on for $85 per month, per state, on an annual contract. Pricing and eligibility conditions apply. See the promotional terms.
Current add-on holders on any plan — You keep the add-on. You'll also get access to the new built-in HR Resources suite.
Note: We're migrating from our third-party partner, Mineral, to our own built-in HR Resources suite.
New customers on Simple or Plus — This add-on is no longer offered. HR Resources is now offered exclusively on Premium.
For more information, see HR Resources, powered by Mineral, for admins.
Current add-on holders on any plan — You keep the add-on.
New customers — This add-on is no longer offered. Performance is included in the Plus plan.
For more information, see Create and manage performance reviews for admins.
New customers, starting Oct 1, 2026 — The Contractor-only plan is no longer available. Contractor management isn't going away — it's becoming a more integrated part of the Gusto platform rather than a standalone plan. If you need to pay contractors, you can do so directly within each plan.
Existing customers on this plan — Nothing changes. You keep full access to your current plan and features.
These updates apply per client company, based on that company's plan — not to your overall partner relationship with Gusto. If you manage clients across Simple, Plus, and Premium, each client's account will reflect the updates for their specific plan automatically.
