How can we help?

Edit or remove a pay schedule

Change your pay schedule with Gusto at any time. We support the following pay schedule frequencies: weekly, biweekly, semimonthly, monthly, quarterly, and annual schedules.

Edit an existing pay schedule

  1. Click the Payroll section and select Payroll settings.

  2. Click edit next to the pay schedule you need to update.

  3. Select the pay frequency–how often employees are paid.

  4. Select when they'll be paid and complete any remaining prompts.

  5. Click Preview upcoming paydays before saving to see a snapshot of your pay schedule in the future.

    • Gusto will automatically generate a Transition Payroll for any gap in the pay periods between the old and new pay schedule.

  6. Once you have your preferred schedule setup, click Save.

  7. If a Transition Payroll is generated on your Home page, this must be processed or skipped before the next regular payroll can be run.

Remove an existing pay schedule

To remove an existing pay schedule, you’ll need to change the pay schedule “assignment type” altogether and set up one or more pay schedule(s) again.

  1. Click the Payroll section and select Payroll settings.

  2. Under the Pay Schedule section, click Change assignment type.

  3. Reconfigure your pay schedule to your desired format by selecting from the three pay schedule options.

    • Selecting Everyone on one pay schedule will make it so you're company only has one pay schedule going forward.
