Use contractor-only plans when you do not need to pay W-2 employees. This plan only supports US independent contractors who need a 1099-NEC. These accounts cannot have any pre-existing or dismissed W-2 employees.
To downgrade, your account must meet all these requirements:
You have not onboarded any W-2 employees in Gusto.
You have not verified any W-2 employee bank accounts.
When we verify a bank, we send test deposits and create an employee record that cannot be deleted.
You have not submitted any payrolls for W-2 employees (including historical payrolls from previous providers).
You have not entered any state tax information.
If you meet all these requirements, contact us for the next steps. To contact us, sign in to your Gusto account and click the help icon
in the top-right corner of the page.
