Instant bank verification (IBV) allows you to bypass the test deposit step while connecting your company bank account to your Gusto account. You'll need your routing number and account number to get started.
You can securely connect your company bank account to your Gusto account using instant bank verification (IBV). We use a third party service called Plaid (learn more about Plaid) to instantly verify your bank account. We do not store your bank account’s username and password, and all of your bank credentials are encrypted.
Why connect your bank account?
Gusto sometimes needs to verify your account balance before you can submit payroll. By linking your bank account directly, it's less likely* we'll need to ask for a bank account screenshot and allows us to verify your bank account balance in real time.
Connect your bank account with IBV
If we're able to connect, the "Bank Connection" will show a status of "Connected". If you need to disconnect the bank, you'll need to contact our team from the Help or Priority support section of your account to assist.
*A screenshot may still be requested if the account balance pulled is less than the debit total, if the balance is close to the debit total and there are pending transactions, or if we're experiencing technical difficulties connecting to the bank.
