This article is for employees who need to complete a self-evaluation for a performance review in Gusto.
Performance reviews are available for companies on Plus and Premium plans. If you think your company should have this feature but you cannot access it, reach out to your admin. They can upgrade at any time in Gusto.
Here’s an overview of the performance review process:
Admins set up review cycles.
Admins assign reviewers (usually your manager).
Reviewers and admins can:
Track progress on reviews.
View your goals and feedback during your review.
Your employer may share review results in a few ways:
In Gusto
Available in the Performance section of your profile
In person
Another way
Reviewers can add a summary after reviews are shared.
Summaries can include feedback from the review, action items, meeting notes, and more.

To complete your self-evaluation in Gusto:
You’ll get an email when it’s time to start. Your Dashboard will also show a reminder.
Click the reminder or go to Performance.
Find the active review cycle and click on it.
If you’ve completed a self-review before, that’ll appear here too.
Answer the questions, then click Submit.
Max limit: 65,000 characters
Click Submit again to confirm.
Important: You cannot edit your self-evaluation after you submit it.
After your employer shares your review results, you can view them in the Performance section of your Gusto profile.
To view shared reviews and summaries in Gusto:
Go to Performance.
Next to the review cycle, click View.
Click on:
Self-evaluation
Manager review
Summary
