Follow these steps to reset your password.

Unsure which email is connected to your Gusto account

Follow these steps to recover your email if you already use 2-step verification with Gusto: 

  1. Go to the sign in page.
  2. Click Having trouble signing in?
  3. Select I forgot my email address.
  4. Indicate if you’re an employee, admin, or accountant.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Enter the phone number associated with your account.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Enter the verification code Gusto sent and click Finish.
  9. If we’re able to associate your phone number and retrieve your email, click Sign in to enter your Gusto account.

If you don’t have 2-step verification enabled, or you still need to recover your email address:

Account locked

If your account is locked after entering your password incorrectly too many times, and you have access to the email associated with your account, follow these steps to unlock it. If you don't have access to the email address, ask your admin to update it or call Gusto at (628) 246-1969. View our hours of operation here.

2-step verification code issues

Head to 2-step verification troubleshooting if you have a new phone or you’re not receiving a 2-factor code for any reason.

Authorize a new device

If you're signing in with a new device, we'll send you an authorization email to keep your account secure. Click the authorization link in that email to finish signing in. If you don't see the email in your inbox, check your spam and junk folders, then try the "Unsure which email is connected to your Gusto account" section above.
 

No longer at the company

Dismissed employees have lifetime access to their Gusto account as long as there's an email address associated with it.

Employers often still have the old work email listed on your account. There are two ways you can update your email to a personal one:

Need to access Gusto for the first time

Reach out to your admin (current or previous) to grant you access to Gusto for the first time. Admins, to grant your team access, follow these steps for employees and these steps for contractors.
