This article is for US employees and contractors who want to view, sign, or upload documents in their Gusto account.
Note: Simple, Plus, and Premium plan customers can use these options. The contractor-only plan does not include these features.
You can view and sign copies of your personal forms in your Gusto account (including custom documents your employer uploads). Not all documents require a signature. Only documents that require an e-signature will prompt you to sign the form.
You can also upload and store documents to your employee or contractor account. After you upload a document, you and your company administrator can access it anytime.
You can access all your personal forms in Gusto, including tax forms and employment documents. Some forms require your signature, while others are just for your records.
To view, sign, and download forms in your Gusto account:
If you’re having trouble getting access, get help signing in here.
If you have more than one Gusto profile, learn how to switch between your profiles.
Go to Documents.
Use the search bar, filter options, or scroll to find the document.
Click on the document name to view or download it.
If you’re looking for a previous year’s W-2 or 1099, these become available in mid-to-late January. We’ll email you when they’re available. Reach out to your employer directly if you’re missing forms you expected to see.
If you need to update your W-4, go to this article.
If the document requires an e-signature, type your full name, check the acknowledgement box, and click Sign.
At this time, we will not notify admins when you sign a document. You can let them know, and they can view the signed document in your profile.

If you’re having issues accessing your account, confirm the email address on your account with your payroll admin.
Note: Simple, Plus, and Premium plan customers can upload or delete documents. The contractor-only plan does not include these features.
If you need a customized document, employers can create and share custom docs as needed.
To upload a document to your account:
If you have more than one Gusto account using the same sign-in credentials, you can switch between profiles as needed.
Go to Documents.
At the top right, click Add document.
Name the document.
Click Upload.
You can upload these document types: PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, TXT, JPEG, PNG, and GIF.
Click Save.
You can only delete certain forms. We must store some forms for payroll or HR records.
To delete a document (when available), hover over it and click Delete document.
