Troubleshooting account access

If you're having trouble gaining access to your Gusto account, identify the root issue below and follow the steps to rectify.

Forgot password

If you don't know your password, follow these reset password instructions.

Unsure which email is connected to Gusto

If you're not sure what email is associated with your Gusto account:

  • Begin the reset password process, but select “I’m an employee and forgot my email address” to obtain the email associated with your account.
  • You can reach out to your employer (current or previous) to confirm the email address or update it on your behalf.
  • You can call us at (628) 246-1969 to help troubleshoot account access issues. Agents are available during our standard business operating hours: 7am - 4pm PT.

Locked out

If your Gusto account was locked due to an excessive amount of unsuccessful sign in attempts:

  1. Check your email. Gusto will send an email with an Unlock My Account button.
    • If you don't see the email, check your spam and/or junk folders as well.
  2. Click the Unlock my Account button.
  3. The account will be unlocked, but you'll still need to reset your password.

2-step verification issues

No longer at the company

Dismissed employees have lifetime access to their Gusto account as long as there's an email address associated with it. Often time, employers still have the old work email listed on your account. You can:

  • Reach out to your previous employer to update your email address to a personal one; or

  • Call Gusto at (628) 246-1969 so we can verify your identity and update your email to a personal one.
